Early summer holidays

Had a week off last week and went up Oma and Opas (aka mum and dad). Josh loved swimming in the pool. Weather was just perfect and we managed a couple of day trips; to Russell and Paihia one day and into Whangarei to catch up with Becks Nanna a different day. Hirzing Opa (mums dad) is over from Germany at the moment so it was nice to spend some time with him too.

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to watch some Orca Whales swimming up the harbour; we think there must have been about 5 or 6 of them with a couple of young ones. Hard to get good photos as they rarely fully come out of the water and from the photos I did get it's a little hard to judge the size of them; the two larger ones would have been around the 5m mark in length.

Looking forward to christmas now and spending some more time relaxing in the sun and the odd swim with Josh in the pool.

As always; click on the photos to enlarge them.

Uncle Danal and Uncle Felix being 'indians' in the pool.

Mmmmm - icecream in Russell :-)

Below are some of the pictures of the whales;

And a trip to Oakura for an icecream with Oma and Opa (Hirzine Opa stayed at home as he managed to get a cold and so was resting/recovering):

Easter, Josh's Birthday and the new bathroom

Yay another update!! Below are some photos from our little easter egg hunt - with easter eggs in all the usual places! Except that the easter bunny left a big box with some chocolate eggs and a torch on the trailer and the little clever boy asked; 'how does the easter bunny carry that box'??!! :-)

And after all that he needed a little rest with his best friend! :-)

Also Josh turned 3 last week and we had grandma and poppa round that night and Josh spent the day with mum at Manukau to see the Wotwots and caught up with dad for lunch at McDonalds. Mum even made him a cake with lollies on it! :-)
And then on saturday we had Josh's party. Unfortunately none of his preschool friends came as it was middle of school holidays - not the best timing on our behalf. Still he had a good time and all the adults ate far too much kids food. Nanna had made him his birthday cake which was cars on a road! And Grandmas club sandwiches went down a treat with the adults as they had no crusts!! :-)

Finally here now some photos of the new bathroom and toilet. Took a little longer than expected but worth it in the end. Still needs a few finishing touches but nothing major (basket in the corner behind bath for josh's toys, etc..). Everyone who came round on saturday liked it which was nice - it's not really stock standard bathroom so not necessarily to everyones taste but we think it's modern and crisp/clean but still goes with the style of the house.

Finally! Summer and christmas photos.

For those that have been checking the site for an update for weeks now - sorry! :-)

We had too many christmas's this year - so sorry there are lots of unwrapping presents photos.

But before we had out first christmas with Poppa and Grandma we went to Ross's work christmas party for kids which we went to last year but Josh I think enjoyed a lot more this year. He quite enjoyed going on the rides after initial hesitation.

Then our first christmas which we had at our house with Aaron and Jess and Carl and Shan.

Josh being Josh! :-)

And then we spent the week before christmas up at Oma and Opas. Went on a boat ride and had a picnic on the beach and went for a swim. Josh even got to ride on the tractor after to boat was back out of the water and washed down.

And he helped Oma in the garden with the watering most evenings.

Time for christmas number 2 - Weihnachten at Oma and Opas. He got some money and a wallet/purse so he can go shopping - we got him a shopping trolley with all sorts in it but didn't know that he was going to get some money too. And he got a really cool kitchen with sink and oven etc but we didn't take a photo and it was too big to take home in the car. Will add another photo later once we have it at home or after we've been back to Oma and Opas if remember to take a photo then.
We popped in at home for one night on our way from Oma and Opas to Nanna and Pots in Taupo where we spent the week after christmas. Poppa and Grandma called in too and Josh got his shopping trolley from us (actually from Santa who had been to our house while we were at Oma and Opas!!) and...

... Poppa built him a cool garage with petrol pumps and air and lots of new cars!

And then our last christmas at Nanna and Pots in Taupo. Didn't take any photos from our week in Taupo - lots of relaxing and just 'being on holiday' (truth be known lots of eating and feeling like we ate too much!! :-) )
